FILM CLUB
CINE-CIUDAD

Since January 2024 - Madrid, Spain

Cine-Ciudad is a monthly film club that gathers individuals interested in cinema, spatial practices, and architecture, offering a platform for dialogue and critical reflection. Hosted at Amanda Gatti’s studio-flat in Madrid, the sessions are structured around three thematic axes: Deriva/Trajectories, Community, and Architecture. These themes guide the film selections and discussions, exploring how cinema intersects with urban life, human movement, and the spaces that shape us.

Currently in its pilot phase, Cine-Ciudad is an independent, non-profit initiative produced and curated by Amanda. The goal is to create a collaborative and inclusive space where participants can exchange ideas and interpretations of films that dive deep into the architecture of cities, community-building, and the human experience of navigating space. Each screening is followed by an open discussion that promotes critical thinking and personal reflection on these themes.

The films selected focus on migration, social interaction, and how urban landscapes influence both cinematic and real-life narratives. Although the project currently takes place at Amanda’s studio-flat, Cine-Ciudad is open to evolving into different formats, not just expanding into new phases. Whether through collaborations with filmmakers, cultural centers, or exploring new modes of presentation, the vision is to create a broader network for independent, critical cinema that resonates with the spatial realities of contemporary life.

This project reflects Amanda's commitment to deepening the exchange between cinema and space, while remaining adaptable to new possibilities for growth in the future.

CLUBE DE ZANZANTES

2023 - Porto Alegre, Brazil / Madrid, Spain

In July 2023, Amanda Gatti served as a guest facilitator for the Clube de Zanzantes, an initiative led by researcher Gabriela Tarouco from UFRGS, Brazil, connected to Gabriela's doctoral research. This project draws inspiration from the practices of artist-researchers in the performing and visual arts who explore walking as an aesthetic action. The research focuses on the nature of walking as a teaching-learning methodology in art, particularly through the development of games that facilitate exploration of urban spaces and, during the pandemic, the home environment.

During the Clube de Zanzantes session titled "Mapamundi - Movimentos Migratórios," Amanda collaborated with Gabriela to connect participants from Porto Alegre and Madrid remotely. Together, they guided participants on a pre-established route that reflected their own migratory movements, creating a shared experience of exploration and connection across distances. This session emphasized the role of walking as a means to navigate personal and collective histories, fostering dialogue about migration and belonging in both urban and virtual spaces.

As part of this ongoing study, field experiences were organized in collaboration with the Visual Arts and Theatre programs at UFRGS and FURG, aiming to practically apply the artistic-pedagogical games derived from this research. A final proposal of the thesis includes an artist's book titled "Práticas do zanzar: jogos artístico-pedagógicos para artistas, professoras(es) e curiosas(os)", which compiles the games developed during this journey.
